Exploring Business Environment Policy Changes in China Using Quantitative Text Analysis
A conducive business environment is crucial for establishing a sustainable market economy. This paper aims to quantitatively analyze the evolution of China’s business environment policy, offering valuable insights for future optimization. Focusing on 1335 national-level business environment policies from 2006 to 2023, this study employed a social network analysis (SNA) and the latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) model to investigate policy changes in terms of the issuing rhythm, collaborating departments, and policy attention. The findings reveal: (1) China has established a mature policy system for its business environment, with both an increasing number and improving impact of related policies. (2) A governance network of the business environment has gradually formed, with the participation of differentiated departments and the domination of one central unit, ensuring efficient collaboration and clear instruction. (3) The attention of the business environment policy has shifted from attracting foreign investment and developing the industrial chain to simplifying bureaucratic approval procedures, smoothing trade circulation, and ensuring legal reliability. This paper’s results serve as an empirical contribution to the field of business environment policy research. (Hu, S., Wu, X., & Cang, Y. (2024). An analysis of the existing literature indicates that the role of technology is significant in improving operational efficiency and competitiveness in SMEs. With the application of digital payment systems, the possible benefits are the reduced level of cash handling risk, improved transaction speed and increased financial transparency. The findings in the literature also indicates that there is high preference among customers for businesses that provide electronic payment options. But at the same time, there is a significant effect of transaction cost, accessibility to internet and cyber security concerns with respect to adoption of digital payments within South African SMEs.
Research methodology
The research approach suitable is quantitative research approach while the research design applicable is descriptive and correlational research design. The target population is the small and medium size enterprises in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. The sampling technique that will be considered is stratified random sampling to make sure that there is sufficient representation from retail, hospitality and service sectors. The sample size that will be used in collecting data is 200 SMEs. The collection of data will be performed through both primary and secondary data collection methods, whereby primary data will be collected by using structured questionnaires that will include closed-ended questions utilising likert scales. The secondary data will be collected from journal articles, government reports and SME publications. The collection of data will be carried out through online surveys and physical distribution of questionnaires.
Data analysis
The analysis of the collected data would be performed through descriptive statistics in summarizing the responses, regression analysis to establish relationship between digital payment adoption and business growth, and statistical software would be utilised such as SPSS to analyse data.
Ethical considerations
