Answer 1:

Difference between assessment types and their importance in teaching and learning

Assessment as learning is a way of getting feedback with the objective of improving on its own performance. Its importance in teaching and learning can be identified from the fact that it promotes learner autonomy and self regulation. Assessment of learning is the process of using summative assessment with the objective of judging learners performance. It is important because it provides evidence of learning. Assessment for learning is an ongoing formative assessment given by professors to inform instruction. It is important in teaching because it provides teaching strategies and feedback to support the progress of a learner.

Promotion and progression

The promotion of learners is done on the basis of achieving minimum requirements per subject, attendance and age. The marks from continuous assessment are taken into consideration by teachers in evaluating the overall progression of the learner.
Baseline assessment
This is generally undertaken at the beginning of the Year in order to determine the prior knowledge of learners.
Diagnostic assessment
This type of assessment is used to identify difficulties that students are facing at the early stage.
