Over the years we have seen communities being severely affected by the effects of climate change, which has depleted Africa’s natural resource base over time. Climate change in Africa now poses a real threat that could potentially reverse the developmental gains achieved by African countries over the years. Most of Africa’s population is highly vulnerable to climate change effects.

The conservation of wildlife in parks and nature reserves in Southern Africa is associated with the events of colonization. Southern Africa consists of thirteen states located in the southern part of the African continent. They are Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The thirteen- member states have now come together with a strategy to conserve biodiversity across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and to sustain the region’s economic and social development in harmony with the spiritual and cultural values of its people. The goal is to promote equitable and regulated access to the SADC region and share the benefits from, and responsibilities for protecting biodiversity in the region.

5 negative effects of climate change or water scarcity, flooding, loss of biodiversity, chances of climate related diseases, and decline in the agricultural output.
Negative effects on environment and human health
Climate change has a negative effect on the environment as well as human health. It leads to a long term shift in the weather pattern and is mainly caused by both the natural as well as human factors. Education with respect to climate change requires positive skills and attitude to address the issue.
The negative impact on the environment can be identified in the form of reduced productivity of crops, destruction of human habitats, and higher chances of natural disasters. On the human health, it leads to significant diseases mainly from water borne diseases, respiratory diseases etc.
Five important actions to deal with the issue of climate change are adequate plantation of trees, initiative to recycle waste, reduce dependency on fossil fuel, water conservation and promoting the use of renewable energy sources.
Wildlife conservation in national parks
The five disadvantages to local communities are reduction in land availability resources, higher chances of conflict with wildlife, increasing level of restrictions, human life danger from wild animals, and limited economic benefit.
The five advantages to the local committee includes increased revenue from tourism, job opportunities for the locals, preservation of cultural heritage sites, improved infrastructure, and better earning sources.
