Mr. Thula is a new principal at Riverside High School. He went from being a mere teacher to a principal position with no management experience. The deputy principal and the Departmental Heads (HODs) who also wanted this principal position were not happy with Mr. Thula’s appointment. Together they decided to neglect the duties delegated to them by the principal saying that he (the principal is appointed to fulfill all these duties). He approached the school governing body (SGB) to intervene. The principal, Mr. Thula together with the SGB decided to draft the job description for each educator, including those in management, and inserted them in their files. Mr. Thula then used the authority power vested in him as a principal to delegate and give instructions. Management started complaining that they were given more workload.
